MK Sound Professional monitoring systems have become firm favorites in film and dubbing studios as well as in surround mixing applications. For smaller suites and more modest budgets, MPS 1611P offers critical listeners precision monitoring for extended periods with extraordinary accuracy and smooth response with no listener fatigue.
The MK Sound Professional MPS 1611P is a more compact, less-expensive monitor based on the popular MPS 2510P. The bi-amplified, two-way, near- to-mid-field monitor is suitable for stereo and multichannel applications, is magnetically shielded and can be used with any MK Sound Professional powered subwoofer.
These little speakers impress instantly, delivering an accurate, tonally neutral sound with natural dynamics and transient detail that combine to make it one of the most revealing two-way available.
Input options are balanced XLR and single-ended phono, both buffered for simultaneous connections.
The tapered bass port can be fitted with a removable plug. With the plug in place, MPS 1611P becomes a sealed-cabinet design, producing even tighter bass, ideal for satellite-subwoofer configurations with one of MK Sound’s acclaimed powered subwoofers. With the plug removed, MPS 1611P becomes a stand-alone, full-range ported system.
Extensive rear panel functions tailor the MPS 1611P’s response for optimal room and system integration. The Fixed/Variable gain switch is used in conjunction with the continuously variable gain control. Bass response can be switched between Full Range and Normal which attenuates low frequencies for use with a subwoofer. The 80Hz highpass filter is also useful with a subwoofer without bass management.
The LED on the baffle appears brightest to the user when the cabinet is aligned properly relative to the monitoring position.
Moderate price, modest footprint and reference level detail and transparency make the MPS 1611P the no-compromise choice for installations with space and/or budgetary constraints.
Exclusive MK Sound Professional Drivers
Developed for our market leading professional studio monitors, MPS 2510P and MPS 1611P, the custom designed MK Sound high frequency drive unit applies classic MK Sound innovation and attention to detail to eliminate high frequency smearing and phase/combing anomalies. The result is a breakthrough level of high frequency performance worthy of the MK Sound brand name.
The all-new MK tweeter breaks away from the industry convention of offering drivers with standardized impedance values. Instead, the impedance of the MK tweeter is designed to match specific component values to ensure total control of the frequency range.
Continuing the MK Sound legacy of high frequency transparency and focus, this exceptionally fast and accurate open-back pro driver incorporates a coated silk dome with lightweight, copper-clad aluminum wiring for low mass and high sensitivity, a vented, high sensitivity ferrofluid cooled voice coil for reduced compression at large excursions, a calibrated waveguide for controlled directivity and smooth integration with mid/bass drivers and a cast aluminum front plate bolted directly to the magnet system for improved mechanical stability.
The semi-shielded magnet system is based on a large ferrite double magnet to optimize distribution of magnetic flux in the air gap. The build-up of a captive air volume behind the dome is prevented thanks to a double flow resistor foam plug in the vented pole piece for enhanced speed and precision across the high frequency range and unique low-compression rear chamber tubes are employed for minimal distortion and controlled transient response, especially at the bottom end of the driver’s range.
Dual 5.25” mid/bass drivers featuring polypropylene cones with straight walls and a cupped spider for maximum excursion are recessed into the baffle. The 1” voice coil is wound on an aluminum bobbin. The gasketed frame is cast aluminum and the woofer is shielded by means of a counter magnet within a can. The pole piece has a cavity behind a porous cloth dustcap to allow pressure release. The surround is a high quality half-roll butyl rubber.
As is true of each and every individual component that goes into every single MK Sound loudspeaker, all MK Sound Professional drivers are designed by professionals foar professionals.
